One speaker to rule them all!

AsciLab ( Acoustic Science Laboratory ) have just announced the release of their C8C active cardioid model.

Cardioid response simply means that to a large extent the loudspeakers cancels its own rear and side radiated propagation.

Which means you hear more direct sound which means the sound of the speaker is clearer, this clarity is reflected in the speaker's in-room measurements and allows the speakers to be positioned closer to the room's boundaries, AsciLab suggest that the C8C can be placed just 10cm from the front wall.

No longer do the speakers need to dominate the room.

The C8C is active which means you just have to add a source of your choice, an inexpensive Wiim streamer and a pair of C8C's will deliver a state of the art sound better than any other speaker at any price, I will repeat that at any price.

AsciLab have also designed a dedicated sub-module the BX8C for the C8C, this consists of 4x 8" high excursion sub-woofers, which makes the combination not only completely 'full-range' ( 20Hz-20kHz) but extends the cardioid response down to 40Hz.

As you would expect from AsciLab the C8C's measurements are phenomenal, extremely linear, with a flat ( wiggle free) frequency response, constant directivity and extremely low distortion.

AsciLab C8C on the Klippel NFS

The C8C and underneath the BX8C sub module which effectively becomes the stand for the main speaker.

Two 8"high excursion sub-woofers on the rear of the BX8C( 2x8" also on the front) within the two enclosures space for the active amplification.

To summarise AsciLab's new C8C offers the finest measurements currently available ( the better the measurements the more transparent the sound) innovative cardioid response a speaker which can be transformed into a full-range monster with the addition of its dedicated sub-module and best of all the price.

A pair of C8C's in either of the standard colours ( matt white/matt black ) will retail for £5k per pair inc vat and delivery. The BX8C which will be released soon will be slightly more but only slightly, if we compare the C8C/BX8C to say the Kii THREE/BXT combination which currently retails for over £30K!

The C8C is not only far, far cheaper but better too.
