During the last few months we took delivery and had the opportunity to listen to some really superb new loudspeakers and a couple of components which together make exquisite but relatively inexpensive 'systems'.

This year saw the first deliveries of AsciLABS ( Acoustical Science Laboratories) new range of loudspeakers, I have already written extensively about them, F6B/S, F6B, C6B arrived in the early summer, they are stunning.

I also had the pleasure of meeting Harry Yeung of First Audio, he bought around a pair of his 'Fidelia' compact two ways which had been extremely favourably reviewed/measured by Erin ( Erin's Audio Corner) they too superb, Harry also bought the prototype of his new three way Cadentia! Expected here January.

Around the solstice the long awaited Purifi based AsciLAB A6Bs arrived, passive, based around the Purifi Ushindi aluminium woofer and twin passive Purifi radiators, with an SB acoustics aluminium/ceramic tweeter, custom waveguide and coherer ( phase plug).

Jinsung was kind enough to send up serial numbers 00001/2, I have already used every superlative but the A6B do not sound like and two way loudspeaker i have ever heard, they are just phenomenal, they sound like a the finest engineered large three way you have ever heard.

Phil Ward has just finished his review of them for SoundonSound magazine which should be published soon, Phil is the most honest reviewer I know, he reviewed the KIi THREE and Dutch&Dutch 8C for us and really liked them, he also reviewed and measured Manger's C1 which didn't fare so well!

Eversolo released their 'Play' which is an all in one, streamer/amplifier/dac, phonostage, EQ, subwoofer output/management, it isn't the most powerful amplifier but works really well with the Fidelia/Acilabs in a relatively near field ( 2-3 metres) set up.

Last but certainly not least Thorbjørn Sigberg delivered our pair of his new 'Saranna' three way floorstanders, 8" coaxial mid /treble with a compression tweeter, on the rear two high excursion 8" drivers, Hypex amplification, digital crossover and EQ.

If you live in a detached house( or in a terrace and really don't like your neighbours) then these are the speakers for you, they really rock.

Completely full-range, effortless dynamics no hint of compression at any volume, and the cardioid response adds to the clarity of their gorgeous tonality.

Sigberg speakers all have this really wide and deep soundstage and the Saranna is no exception, I don't know how he does it because the Manta and Saranna are really quite different designs yet the results are surprisingly similar. ie Utterly breathtaking!

All Sigberg designs can accept either an analogue or digital input, Eversolo have just released their T8 'digital transport' ( streamer without the DAC) which can send and attenuate a digital signal.

T8 and Saranna make an excellent 'system', the T8 also has the capability of accepting SFP optical which I had to try because it uses those really cute yellow cables!

I am far from an optical expert but fortunately I know someone who is, Eddie Hing at Universal Networks, I sent hime the T8's specifications and he sent me back a completely plug and play set of components, thank you Eddie.

All of this stuff is lying around at Purité Audio ( London) I would be delighted to play it for you or we can bring it to your home and set it up against your current system for a really valid and worthwhile comparison, we also acoustically measure and implement any necessary EQ.

We deliver the finest sound quality possible, without the BS.
