AsciLab's new flagship compact two-way loudspeaker the S6B.

Acoustic Science Laboratory ( AsciLab ) are a recently established loudspeaker manufacturer based in Seoul, Korea.

AsciLAB maybe new but their designers Jinsung Ko and Changyeul Park have twenty years experience in the field of acoustics and loudspeaker design.

All of AsciLAB's speakers are developed using the very latest Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Klippel's NFS ( Near Field Scanner ).

Their goal was to design the finest measuring and thus most transparent loudspeakers possible, they have succeeded.

S6B:-

Design :Two-Way passive loudspeaker,

Bass configuration : passive radiator,

Crossover : 1kHz

Sensitivity : 82dB ( 2.83 V/1 m),

Nominal Impedance :4 Ohm

Recommended Amplifier : up to 500W

Main Features :

Deep Bass for the size, although compact the SB6's bass extension reaches to mid-20Hz in room.

Resonant Free Response, Natural frequency response with little evidence of dips or peaks.

Constant Directivity even in the high frequencies, the SB6 maintains a wide, stable beam width from 1kHz up to and above 15kHz.

Minimised Lobing errors, its low crossover point effectively reduces vertical lobing that's typically unavoidable in two-way designs.

Intentionally reduced high-shelf, preserves wide radiated energy, while controlling excessive brightness, delivering smooth, dense and finely textured treble.

Exceptionally Low Distortion, Very low hysteresis-related distortion.

Ideal Beam Width,  maintaining a 60° coverage above 1kHz.

Low IMD ( Intermodulation Distortion) the low crossover significantly reduces woofer-related high-frequency IMD, achieving three-way design levels. in a compact two -way design.

Modern Functionalist design, Aesthetically proportioned, chic and understated  contemporary design.

AsciLab's  SB6 utilises Purifi's 6.5" Ushindi    (Swahili for victory) aluminium woofer, the new Purifi 1.3" PTT tweeter and twin Purifi 8" passive radiators.

It is the ultimate two-way!

Purifi, simply make the best loudspeaker drivers currently available, high SPLs ( sound pressure levels) but coupled with extremely low distortion.

They are excellent but unfortunately expensive.

The designers behind Purifi are Bruno Putzey and Lars Risbo, both are hugely respected engineers, who have been responsible for some of the most innovative products currently available.

The Purifi 'Eigentakt' Class-D designs are the finest measuring amplifiers extant.

AsciLab have optimised bot the S6B's wave guide and Cohehrer (phase plug), using FEA, finite element analysis to achieve continuous directivity.

The deep waveguide ensures outstanding constant directivity and precise dispersion.

The phase plug/coherer has been refined through countless simulations and hundreds of prototypes to ensure seamless directivity.

The S6B is the finest measuring loudspeaker currently available, and thus the most transparent.

The results of thousands of hours of measurement are the most transparent loudspeakers currently available.

Erin's Audio Corner reviewed/measured the C6B ( aluminium-ceramic drivers) his review can be found here,

Amir at Audio Science Review, measured both the F6B and F6B/S, both Erin and Amir own the Klippel NFS that AsciLAB use to design their loudspeakers.

Amir also reviewd thw F6B/S sealed enclosure variant,

Phil Ward of 'SoundonSound' magazine has recently reviewed and measured AsciLab's A6B Purifi based design, his review should be published shortly.

I believe he liked it!

Pictured right the A6B with the unusual Purifi driver ( the S6B uses the very same woofer) surround which helps lower distortion, the Purifi drivers and their new  PTT tweeter are simply the current state of the art.

Lars Risbo has published the new Purifi tweeter's measurements in the AsciLabs thread on Audio Science review.

Acoustic Science Laboratory loudspeakers of Seoul, Korea, redefining not only the  current state of the art but delivering that quality at a reasonable price.

AsciLab's S6B will be available in January, pricing yet to be finalised.

AsciLAB's compact two-way designs are just the beginning they have plans!

This is a 'roadmap' of future planned releases.

There is so much hype and BS in the Hi-Fi industry it is a joy to discover a range of products that not only live up to expectations but exceed them.

Jinsung and Changyeul are as transparent as their designs, every measurement for every speaker is published every design decision is explained and corroborated by measurement.

They are simply the best loudspeakers I have heard, at any price.

The entire AsciLab range is available to audition at Puritè Audio, London or we will send loudspeakers to you so you can evaluate them in your own space, directly against your current system which is by far the most valid method of comparison.
